Play A Sound File From A Specific Starting Position

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We wanted to ask:

Is it possible to play a sound file from a specific starting position?

(e.g. after the fist 15 seconds)

We have a 30 min ALaw wave file (1 second = 8000 bytes), and we want the ability to jump between the various subtitles in the wave file.

Thank you.

Once sound file is playing the person listening to the file can jump forward/back within the file by pressing telephone keys. Use the "PLAY ACTION - Jump Forward" and "PLAY ACTION - Jump Back" paths.

It is not possible right now to specify starting position of file played back. All playbacks starts at beginning of file.

If you require this functionality please contact sales@voiceguide.com

Have you considered splitting up the long file into a series of shorter files, or just making copies of the longer file with the start cut off, and selecting to play that copy instead when caller selects to 'start play at an offset'.

eg: split file into series of shorter files, say a.wav, b.wav, c.wav, d.wav, e.wav, f.wav, and specify this as the sound files to be played:

c.wav,d.wav,e.wav,f.wav

the caller will still be able to use the "PLAY ACTION - Jump Forward" and "PLAY ACTION - Jump Back" paths to scan right though the listed sound files as if they were one continuous sound file.

Thank you for the reply,

We will try that

Also in this issue:

when we change the play speed with [Play Action - Speed Increase/Decrease]

The speed settings are saved for the rest of call.

Is it possible to reset the speed number by a Result Variable?

(like $RV[playaction_skipforwardbytes] and $RV[playaction_skipbackbytes]) for the Skipping setting?

Thank you
