i need to enter date that contain letter and number

As Ex: M2S7 its an ID number of the caller ( only this two letter M & S)

so i told the caller if your number conatin letter M Press * Instead and if it contain Letter S Press # instead

but VG when we pressing # , it end the entering data and go to the next procedure

# is used to complete data entering. This is pretty standard across most IVR systems, and most callers who used IVRs before would be used to this.

 

Probably a better approach is to ask caller to press *1 for M and *2 for S. This way more letters can be used in future.
