Lame Does Not Recognize Recorded Message Wav Files?

Recommended Posts

I am using dialogic d/120jct-ls and vg 7, which is saving the voice messages from callers in .wav files.

I cannot conver them to mp3's using LAME.

An old 2002 version of lame that i was using with my brooktrout wav files reports "warning: corrupt or unsupported WAVE format assuming raw pcm input file" , and the latest 2008 version reports "unsupported data format: 0x0007".

As far as I recall, I just used default settings when installing the dialogic and vg.

Ideas?

thx,

les

The sound files in VG v7 are saved in uLaw 8bit format (or ALaw) This is a fairly common the format, and matches the format used by phone companies to transmit the sound over their network, so there is least distortion in the recording/playback process.

Most other programs recognize this format.

Suggest you try using sox for sound file conversions: http://sox.sourceforge.net/
