Why Run On Windows Server 2008?

Recommended Posts

Voice Guide does not require a server. Why run VG on an expensive server with such an expensive operating system? I would not want my VG system live on the internet. I would not want to be running Active Directory, Exchange, etc. on the system running VG. Is that your only computer? I have a very small company but still run multiple industrial servers and desktop systems and would never waste a Server 2008 license to run VG. I guess it must be nice to be able to buy the latest and be on the bleeding edge.

Correct. VoiceGuide will work on XP as well as it does on Win2003.

Some people want all the machines in their data center to run Server grade OS, and some of those data centers are migrating to Win2008 already, that's why you see some posts asking about Win2008.
