Windows Server 2008

Recommended Posts

Dear sir/madam

I have been Install Dialogic.SystemRelease 6.0 update 171 and a dialog card in Windows Server 2008. It work fine with its samples but I could not still run VoiceGuide on Windows Server 2008. When I install VoiceGuide after System.Release the voiceguide server could not run. Is VoiceGuide support Windows Server 2008?

Best Regards

Have not tested on Win2008, mainly as Dialogic has not yet officially released drivers for Win2008.

Do you have any traces from VG's \log\ which you can post to let us see how the service startup went?

Did you use the special "Vista" version of the SR6.0 SU171?

We can supply a version of VoiceGuide designed to run with the "Vista" version of the SR6.0 SU171.

1) Yes I am using special "Vista" version of the SR6.0 SU171

2) Voiceguide didn’t report any log. But I find following error in even viewer and attach it to this message.

Thanks

If the service itself did not even start then we'd need to look into this further.

Can you in the meantime use Win2003 instead?

Which Dialogic card are you using on this system? We will setup a Win2008 machine and verify VoiceGuide v7 operation on it.

Ultimately using Win2008 may not be the right OS to use at this stage as the Dialogic drivers are not officially certified for Win2008.

I am using D4pciu.

I installing or uninstalling VoiceGuide and System Release. Is it may cause this problem for me? I thought at least voiceguide service started without detect any device before installing system release 171 but now when I uninstall system release voiceguide service could not start ( I know voiceguide will not detect device without system release but I expect it service run without error).

Yes, we would expect for the service to at least be able to start.

Are you able to start the other programs in the VoiceGuide suite? ie: the Script Designer, Telephone Number Loader, Line Status Monitor etc ?

We would need to setup a Win2008 box to see what results we get with the service startup, and can get back to you with our results.

As the Dialogic drivers are not yet certified for use on Win2008 then it may be premature of us to try to make VoiceGuide run on Win2008 before the Dialogic drivers are ready.

We would recommend you use Win2003 until the Dialogic drivers for Win2008 are released.

Hi,

Has this moved forwards at all? I have a Windows Server 2008 32-bit server with a Dialogic D/4PCUIF PCIe card installed with the Vista SR6 Dialogic software installed and working (i.e. all of the demo apps work fine). However, engine log shows that VoiceGuide fails to connect to the lines (see below).

All of our servers are now 2008 and I cannot fall back to 2003 so would really like to get this working.

Thanks in advance.

Ged Pierce.

I'd also like to know if VG & HMP works with Windows 2008 because we'll be upgrading all our servers soon.

Thanks,

Gary.

Thanks for the reply. I also heard back from Dialogic:

"Right now Dialogic is currently planning for HMP support for Vista SP1 32 bit and 2008 Server 32 bit. Virtualization support is currently under exploration." (referrering to Hyper-V I believe)

I hope they don't take too long, ideally this year.

I have got Voiceguide running on Windows 2008 with VoIP. :D

Okay, to be specific I'm running Windows 2008 with Hyper-V and running Windows 2003 as a guest OS. It appears that Hyper-V doesn't cause the timing issues that VMWare does.

Of course I have only tested with 2 phone lines because I don't have a full VG license yet so it's possible that more concurrent calls may cause issues, but it does look very promising. In and outbound calls work fine and sound quality is unaffected.

I hope this information is useful to people wanting to virtualise.

Gary.
