Hardware And Autodialer Database Question

Recommended Posts

Two questions:

1) I am about to upgrade to a tower or rack mount with a backplane setup, what hardware would you recommend?

2) Can you change the database the autodialer program uses to a sql express or some other database? On the current platform, the access database gets bogged down easily once it reaches about 5000+ records. We have to purge the database manually after every run to get performance. The new platform will obviously help, but can the autodialer routine point to another database technology?

How many channels are you using on the system? If you want a high end system then have a look at some of the IBM X-series servers. http://www.ibm.com/systems/x/

There is a page in the Help file which covers that very Topic. See the "Outbound Dialing" section, page called "Additional OutDialQue Sources".

5000 is on the low side, but MSAccess does have it limits. We see those limits resulting in slowed down performance at more like 50,000 records though. Also VoiceGuide should delete the database entries from the database once the call succeeds, so most of the entries should be deleted automatically once the call was answered.
