Details Don't Appear In Event Trace Log

I'm in the process of upgrading from 4 line Pro to 8 line Enterprise+dialer on a new computer. I've downloaded the new VG evaluation version and I have installed VG for Dialogic. When I start voiceguide and then the trace log, nothing comes up in the trace log window to indicate that things are working properly and connected.

 

Is this because the Tapi/Wave are not used? I see the "Log Level" menu--what does that mean?

Set the Log-Level to be greater then 0 (set it to about 8) and you will then see information appear in the trace window.

 

The higher the trace level the more information will appear.

I have done this and still, nothing appears in the event trace log screen after I call into the system. And do I have to change the number every time I want to look at my trace log? With the old Voiceguide it just came up after I turned it on.

 

Question#2:

I have a previous script that I used under the previous version of Voiceguide. Do I have to go back and redo ALL of my old wav files individually to have it comply with the 8hz 8bit mono standard for VG-Dialogic in order to keep it from playing slow? The sound quality of the file is affected.

 

Question#3:

I installed both old and new dialogic cards in my new computer. When I go to put my old registration code in the new evaluation version for the old card, will there be anything special I need to do when I upgrade to 8 Line Enterprise? Like get a new registration code etc.?

For VG for Dialogic the sound files must be 8kHz. If you are converting from 11kHz then the quality will be affected. Do you have original recordings which are usually made at22kh or 44kHz? You should be using them as the source from which to convert.

The tracing level should not change when you close the trace window or restart VG. After you set it >0 then log files should also appear in VG's \log\ subdirectory. Do you see the log files appearing there?

For some reason, there are just no log files appearing in the window, and it doesn't automatically stay at the number >0 that I set.

 

The only thing thats in the log subdirectory file is this: and it gets overwritten each time a new call is made:

Can you try stopping VG, setting the log level entries in VG.INI to >0 (say 8) and restarting VG. Do not open trace window. Just close VG after starting it and see what now appears in log file...

 

If tracing still does not work you may want to just try re-installing VG from scratch. It does sound like something is really wrong with it right now...

Thanks, it now works. But each call's log is saved in the same file for the day. As I remember, in the previous VG each call log on each line was saved in its own file within the directory. Is it normal for the event log files in VG-Dialogic to be amended to one file for the day? I want separate logs for each call that is made.

Can we get access to this computer using PCAnywhere or WinVNC (www.realvnc.com) ?

Why do you think that is necessary? Could there be something else wrong?

Nobody else has reported a problem with logging like this before, and we haven't seen this issue ourselves, so we cannot remotely advise what can be causing it.

 

The only advice we could give would be "try reinstalling on a clean windows + Dialogic SR drivers system". Or we could have a look at the system, and see if anything jumps out at us. Most issues are resolved in minutes if we can have a peek at the system using PCAnywhere.

I'd like for you guys to take a look. Realvnc is now installed so what do we do next?

 

I've also been having problems trying to set up the call transfer. The dial and conference connects but there is no sound from either line--and in some cases when both lines hang up, the system remains on the script instead of disconnecting. And three-way connects but immediately hangs up.

 

So maybe you can help straighten it out.
