Stoping Fax Handoff

Recommended Posts

Ok, Extreamly upsetting at this point.

Your voice features outstanding, your tech support is fantastic, however getting this fax thing to work with dialogic cards seems to be a huge issue. One would think that the professional 4 line version I purchased should have some type of fax capablity. In reading other post it seams to have been made clear that one can not hand off fax calls to a fax program from a dialogic card. My D41/D can detect a fax, and the following trace file seams to indicate that it detected it fine, then errored because it could not find the target. ??? why are not fax features available, will a furture release deal with the diologic fax issue?

By this point I had given up on trying to get the faxhand off to work and tried to bypass it by setting the VG.ini to : HandoffProgramFax=NONE

As tech support indicated in a reply to another user. I still get the following result.

I have a "old fashion" fax machine with a TAD enabled switch listening in on the IVG line. If the work around works, then IVG should ignor the fax signal and give the fax machine time to recognize the signal before hanging up. Right now IVG hangs up too fast.

What do you think ? Can I get this to work? Am I wong about the fax hand off issue? I would love to hear that I am wrong! If so how do I get fax hand off to work ?

I'm on NT 4.0 spk 6, useing a D41/D.

HandoffProgramFax=NONE in the [VG] section should have done the trick...

Attached is a version which is hard coded to ignore fax - please update your v4.9.0 installation with the attached vgmulti.exe When a fax call arrives this version will just display in the Trace Log:

"This version ignores fax detections"

and then whatever script will hangup when Dialogic detects a busy tone, or after timing out awaiting user input...

Only a select few Dialogic cards can receive a fax transmission itself (D41/D can only detect its a fax call, not receive it).

VoiceGuide is not designed to receive faxes itself, but will happily try to 'hand-off' a fax call to a fax program using standard TAPI call-handoff procedures..

At this stage the only you can apparently set up such a system is in conjunction with SmartFax software available from www.faxcall.com - we have not tested this ourselves though... (the call must be answered by a modem - SmartFax cannot control Dialogic cards)

WinFax used to be able to accept handed of fax calls from VoiceGuide but the current versions don't - and Symantec is not saying why they stopped supporting this feature...
