Call Hangs After A Few Seconds

Recommended Posts

My modem is softk56 data fax voice speakerphone with good voice quality. I am testing it from single line and picking up the same receiver to enter number. When I enter any single digit then the modem hangs up. But same script is running on the same modem on a diffferent office PC. Both PCs are having windowsXP. Kindly read the log below and help me please.

When I enter any single digit then the modem hangs up

Trace shows modem has reported hearing the Disconnect tone - and informs VoiceGuide that the call has ended.

This is a common problem with 'Soft' and 'Win' modems. The only solution is to try another modem or get a Dialogic card.

Thanks for the reply. But I wonder why it works on a different PC and the same modem. Does it mean that I require to update OS or modem drivers?

Kindly advice.

But I wonder why it works on a different PC and the same modem.

Is the same phone line plugged into the modem when it is used on another PC?

Was the call made from the same phone?

Does it mean that I require to update OS or modem drivers?

Updating the OS would not have any effect on how the modem detects disconnect tones, but updating the modem drivers may have an effect.

The modem which worked on a different PC was Intex Internal modem. And the telephone line is different. I will test the case under similar conditions and then report.
