Program Exits

Recommended Posts

I just experinced an issue w/ my installation of voiceguide, we recently started to use the system more often than it was being used in the past.

The issue that i experienced was quite alarming, the program just exited and shutdown, there was no entries in the log to indicate an issue it just close, the log did not indicate that it was exiting or anything. Below is the bottom of the log file, this was during a call.

152725.77 5 db Modify operation returned OK

152725.77 5 rv lg add [Log Prompted External Refrigeration_RowCount]{1}

152725.78 5 timer clear

152725.78 5 [Prompt External Refrigeration] Number Input

152725.78 5 [Prompt External Refrigeration] Playing (AHM_refrig.wav)

152726.00 5 PlaySoundStart ok [c:\voicescript\AHM_refrig.wav]

152726.02 5 timer clear

The caller got hung up on, I have external process monitoring checking if this program is running this is how i knew that it shut down, when i found the system there were no errors or messages on the system.

I'm running version 5.2.4000 i have not had any issues w/ the system at all up until today it has been running for some time now.

Are you using a voice modem? Issues like this happen with some voice modems. modem's sound drivers just crash and take down the whole application with them.

If you are using a Dialogic card then please use the 'VoiceGuide for Dialogic" patch.

Oh and yes it is a dialogic card.

I guess i should clearify a bit, what will the changes to the system be, this is a production system... not just testing. Need to be sure somthing is not going to sneek up and bite me. I have read the readme.txt

system requirements

- Dialogic's Global Call 4.2

I know i have dialogic's SR5.1.1 sp1 installed, but i don't know about the

- Dialogic's Global Call 4.2

where would i pick that up?.. Or

- Dialogic SR 6.0

as far as the wav files, i will have to convert them all including the system voice files that come w/ the software?

And one more set of questions, if i switch over to the dialogic version of voiceguide, will i need a new key for the software.

Also will i need to undoo any of the currenty wave config that i have done?

- Dialogic's Global Call 4.2

Use links on our WWW 'Recommended Hardware' page. They will take you to an Intel site and there you shoudl be able to find links that are titled something like: 'Download GlobalCall Protocol'.

- Dialogic SR 6.0

That’s fine as well - but you may need to contact our Dialogic board supplier to get the full version of SR6.0

No need to convert system sound files (see readme.txt in the VG for Dialogic patch).

if i switch over to the dialogic version of voiceguide, will i need a new key for the software.

No. Your existing license will work. There will not even be the need to enter the registration key again.

Also will i need to undoo any of the currenty wave config that i have done?

No need to. The Wave drivers will no longer be used.

As far as the posted trace is concerned - it shows the call was hung up as the call to Dialogic's Sound drivers failed:

162613.25 5 PlaySoundStart err=[0 play PlaySoundStart ResetWavOutAndContinuePlay=>4,play pss EnsureWaveOutIsOpenAndReady=>tr 5 waveOutOpen(id=0) MMSYSERR_ALLOCATED but hWaveOut = NULL] [C:\VoiceScript\Greeting.wav]

This problem with Dialogic’s wave drivers is one of the main reasons why we recommend using "VG for Dialogic" when using Dialogic cards.

thanks for the speedy reply one final think i just want to double double check the wave files message stated in the readme.txt

All sound files used with this system should be in following format: "PCM 8kHz 8bit Mono".

all files are 11kHz 8bit pcm mono, will this cause an issue.

You will need to stop using the 11KHz sound files and replace them with 8kHz ones.

VG's 8kHz system sound files will be installed when you re-install VG (as per instructions in readme.txt

I'm looking at the readme right now, it does not tell me that i have to uninstall then reinstall version 5.x? It states

To use "VoiceGuide for Dialogic" you will need to apply this patch

after installing VoiceGuide v5.x on your system.

I have 5.x installed already, from what your telling me i need to uninstall and reinstall it then install this patch is that correct?

If so what is the procedure to retain the current user base and system config? so that i don't have to setup everything from scratch?

or

Can i just install the patch and convert the wave files.... Please make my life easy....

If you want to save the Voicemail system config then you'll need to backup the VmBoxList.xml file in VG's \data\ subdirectory.

What other settings you'd like to retain?

Can i just install the patch and convert the wave files...

Yes.

And if you install VG on another machine then you could just copy over the sound files from that new install...
