How To Improve Sound Quality For Conference

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I m using

VoiceGuide for Dialogic 6.0.2027.

Sound quality for phone conferencing is very poor. Even it looks like coming from bottom of the well.

How to improve it.

thanks

Which Dialogic card are you using?

Are you using 'Dial and Conference' or '3-Way Conference'?

In 'Dial and Conference' the two lines on the card are just cross-connected on the Dialogic board itself, and VoiceGuide does not have any influence on the quality of the conference.

If the sound quality is poor then either the line impedance between the Dialogic card and your phone lines is not matched or the Dialogic card itself is faulty.

You may want to speak with your local Dialogic distributor about this problem - maybe you have to change some parameters in the Dialogic config to have the card work properly with the phone lines used on this system.

Thanks, Let me explain it some more. Application is developed there in JORDAN and over there it runs fine.

It has to be deployed here in Saudi Arabia.

Here in shows very very low voice volume for telephone conference.

Board is not faulty and 100% working.

You suggest me to changing some board parameters, I tried to do so but the result is same.

please explain which type of parameters can be involved in such situation OR you can suggest some area to work on.

waiting....

Line impedance mismatch can be one of the reasons for low volume.

We're not sure if this is the actual problem on your system or not, and which parameters in Dialogic config files need to be changed and to what values they should be changed to match lines in Saudi Arabia.

Best to speak with the Dialogic distributor for that area. They would be familiar with telephone standards throughout that region and they should have a better idea as to why the cards work OK in Jordan but not in Saudi Arabia.

Hello,

following is last mail response received from intell reginal suppor for dialogic.

CCMENA call tracking number: TSA72\05

Please refer to this number when contacting CCMENA technical support

concerning this issue.

Hi,

It means all of the voice operations except transferring call works

fine. Actually, we have a couple of clients there in Saudi and they

didn't encounter this problem but they are using Intel CTADE and API in

making there IVR applications. It should work as is without any changes

in the configuration if you only need tromboning. There is various ways

to improve the voice quality if the application is base on API but your

using voiceguide, i've heard about voiceguide already but i'm not

familiar on this tools. Can you please try to check for the features of

this tool, maybe there are some functions that can adjust the

performance of transferring calls?

There is no 'tuning' that can be done on the D41JCT cards - the two lines are just cross connected together (also called 'tromboning').

There is various ways to improve the voice quality if the application is base on API

When playing and recording sound files - not when tromboning calls.

As far as we know there is nothing that can be set using the API to affect the quality of tromboned calls when the tromboning is made between two channels of the same analog card.

It may be a good idea to ask your Intel contact to expand on this comment and indicate what parameter/functions would affect the performance of the ag_listen and/or nr_scroute API functions which VoiceGuide uses to tell the D41JCT card to trombone the two lines together.

Also, as you noted, tromboning of calls works fine under VG at the Jordan site...

Tromboning also works fine on the variety of cards we have on our test systems.

How is the general sound quality on the Saudi Arabian system?

If the Saudi Arabian site does not have other sound related problems when playing and recording then I'd try replacing the Dialogic card and see if that makes a difference or try using the current card on some other lines...

dx_adjsv( ) is used to adjust volume.

When playing back a sound file, not when two lines are cross-connected...

hello,

received folowing response from dialogic support against my query

"Pease indicate what parameter/functions would affect the performance of

the ag_listen and/or nr_scroute API functions which VoiceGuide uses to

tell the D41JCT card to trombone the two lines together."

************************************************************

Hi,

What I mean is you can fine tune it based on your needs not affect the

whole nr_scroute. If you have seen the module of nr_scroute (it is

downloadable from intel I think), there are some functions there that

you can see which you will not need in a certain cases. In my program

before, I even embed the nr_scroute module to my application in order to

utilize it. Try to look for the nr_scroute code and maybe they can fine

tune it and remove some unneeded lines of code for your application. But

it will not be sure that this will solve the problem, because even

without modifying the nr_scroute module, the volume should work fine.

I'd try replacing the Dialogic card...

Maybe with the one that is working fine at your Jordan site...

Or another card which you can confirm is working fine in your office/lab before sending it out to the Saudi Arabia site.

(is the Saudi Arabia system's card a brand new card still under warranty or was it purchased second hand?)

Hello, i have tried with both cards, the one that works fine there in jorden and with new one also.

both shows same result.

and about card, i have to get it confirmed from purchase department.

The problem is either line related or card related.

If you exchange the cards around then you'll be able to confirm whether the card is faulty or not. Trying that approach will probably be the quickest way of finding out what is happening with the Saudi Arabian site.

have tried with both cards, the one that works fine there in jorden and with new one also.

So have you tried both cards on the Saudi Arabian system and with both cards the conference is faint? Have you tried both cards on the Jordan system and found both of them to work OK?

What is the "Country" setting in the DCM on each of the systems?

I'd try different "Country" settings to see if that makes any difference.
