Sound File In Call Log Viewer

Recommended Posts

I can't play a sound file in the call log viewer. I choose File, Play Sound File, and nothing happens. I also tried Ctrl S. Do I need to turn this feature on or set it up before it will work?

Have you highlighted the entry in the log which you'd like to play?

Is the file SNDREC32.EXE in Windows' System32 directory?

The log viewer starts SNDREC32.EXE top play the sound file. You can change this to any other program by editing this section of VG.INI file:

[PlayRecordConfig]

RecEditor=SNDREC32.EXE

YES, I HIGHLIGHT THE SOUND FILE

YES, SNDREC32.EXE IS IN DIRECTORY. I USE SOUND RECORDER SUCCESSFULLY IN OTHER PARTS OF THE PROGRAM SUCH AS CREATING SCRIPTS.

NO, I DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE TO ANOTHER PROGRAM.

Which version of VoiceGuide do you have installed on the system?

What is the version number of the vglv.exe file in VoiceGuide's directory?

PLEASE DO NOT WRITE IN UPPER CASE IT MAKES IT HARDER TO READ WHAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN.

Voice Guide 5.2.3018

VGLV 5.2.0.1001

I recently upgraded voice guide. I also noticed that I have 2 separate sets of files in my computer since the upgrade. one folder is labeled IVG and the other folder is labeled voiceguide. They both have most of the same files. Mabie the new version is using some of the old files.

VGLV.EXE v5.2.0.1001 should work OK - that is what we are using on our test systems here..

Can you post a screenshot of what the log viewer entry that you are trying to play looks like.

Oh, and you can just uninstall IVG. IVG is an old version of VoiceGuide that was distributed for a while under a different name by another distributor.

how do I post a screen shot.

Also I don't know if this is related, but the call log does not always include all of the paths that were taken. For instance, a call came in and in the log it showed;

the caller as follows Welcom Menu/pressed 2/hang up in subscript. The caller did leave a message but voiceguide did not show "VmLvRec", as it does on some other calls. It does not seem to track the entire call every time.

To post a screenshot just use a graphics program to do a screen capture (eg: http://www.jasc.com/products/paintshoppro ) then post the .gif file here.

I'd be pretty surprised if the log did not include all of the entries relevant to the call...

Please post the extract from the Trace Log capturing the call as well as the .vgl log file for the script.

I do not have the capability to do a screenshot, I need another option.

What is the extract from the trace log and where do I find it.

What is the .vgl log file for the script.

When running the script click on VoiceGuide's View menu and select 'Event Trace Log' option - any log information will then appear in this window. You must open the trace window before making the call.

.vgl file is created by VoiceGuide in the same directory as your script - it's the actual log file for the script...

I think this is what you want. I analized this and I notice that on one call, the .vgl file shows the call "Hang Up In Subscript" much earlier than in the Trace Log. The .vgl file agrees with the log in the call log viewer.

Look at the call that answered on 12/27/2004 9:09:19 AM and compare them. You will see what I am describing.

Look at the call that answered on 12/27/2004 9:09:19 AM and compare them.

Do you man compare the entries in the vgm trace log and the .vgl file?

vgm trace for call arriving at 09:09:19 shows that the caller was sent to a voicemail box and recorded a message there (14_1227091117_1_0_5182804784_.wav)

A voicemail message can be played from within the voicemail manager.

Is this what you are referring to or are you referring to something else?

I know how to listen to a message in the voicemail manager. As I stated in my first question in this forum, I can't play messages from the call log viewer. That is what we are trying to resolve. I sent you these files at your request. Please read the previous entries in the forum to refresh your memory. Note that the 2 files have different results for the same call. As I noted earlier, the call log viewer is not loging all of the entries. Could this be related to why I can't play the sound file from the call log viewer?

Do you think that your company will ever establish a live tech support line so that these issues can be resolved quicker?

Which calls are you comparing?

The vgm Debug Trace you posted captures 6 incoming calls on 27th December.

But the .vgl log file only shows calls up to the morning of 23rd December...

Please be more specific and indicate exactly what calls you are referring to and what data fields in the log file you are referring to.

As far as voicemail messages go - details of voicemail messages will not be saved in the script log file for the script that sends the call to a voicemail box - log files stores only the actions that happened within that script.

You can of course copy portions of the voicemail scripts into your own scripts - the voicemail scripts are saved in \system\vm\ subdirectory.

Do you think that your company will ever establish a live tech support line so that these issues can be resolved quicker?

Phone support can be purchased - please see our WWW based order form.

Sorry, I don't know why the atachment did't show the entire file, but here is the line from "voicmail Server.vgs" that I am comparing to. Note that in this file, it shows a hang up before leaving the script, yet the trace log shows the call continue on.

[$RV_STARTTIME]{12/27/2004 9:09:21 AM}[$RV_DEVICEID]{0}[$RV_CIDNAME]{BASHAW,LINDA -}[$RV_CIDNUMBER]{5185554784}[Welcome]{2}[No answer_MJ]{9}[Welcome]{3}[No answer]{9}[Hangup in Subscript]{12/27/2004 9:11:49 AM}

I am not really concerned with this issue, but I am bringing it to your attention because it may be related to the problem in concern, which is that I am not able to play a sound file from the call log viewer, which is a new feature in the latest upgrade. As I noted in my first post.

The Voicemail_Server.vgl log file will show only the sound files which have been recorded inside that script.

Once you jump to a different script (as you do when you use voicemail) then the details of what happens in that other script will be saved in that other script's log file.

eg: for voicemail the recording takes place in vmLm.vgs script in VG's \system\vm\ subdirectory.

You can of course copy the vmLm.vgs for your own purposes and modify it to suit your own needs and then jump to that new version of the vmLm.vgs script - and then the details of the recorded sound files will be stored in that new script's log file... how you do it is up to you but when using multiple scripts in your system just remember to look in the right log file for the information you need.

Note that in this file, it shows a hang up before leaving the script, yet the trace log shows the call continue on.

No, it doesn't - trace shows that call finished at 9:11:49 AM, which is the time that the log file shows as well. Look at your trace again:

Let's get back to the problem in concern. the only reason that I sent you those files is because you asked for them. this was supposed to help you determine the problem that I originally wanted to resolve, which is;

I can't play a sound file in the call log viewer. I choose File, Play Sound File, and nothing happens. I also tried Ctrl S. Do I need to turn this feature on or set it up before it will work?

Please read the previous post's to refresh your memory so that we don't keep going over the same things.

Which log file are you viewing?

The log file which you posted does not include any entries of any recorded filenames.

I suspect that you are doing the recording in a different script...

As mentioned in last post:

Once you jump to a different script (as you do when you use voicemail) then the details of what happens in that other script will be saved in that other script's log file.

You can't play a voicemail message from the log file of a script from which you just transfer the call to a voicemail box... If you want to play the voicemail message locally then use the Voicemail Manager or look at the log file vmLm.vgl in VoiceGuide's \system\vm\ subdirectory.

Thank You that worked.

Next Question.

Can I save a voicemail message in the computer, yet delete it from the voicemail manager and if so, how.

Share this post

Link to post

Voicemail manager will show all the voicemail message files in directory \data\VmSave\

If the sound files is moved out of that directory it will no longer show up in the voicemail manager.

You can just modify the voicemail scripts to save the file in another directory, or move the files after they were saved.
