Voicemail Message Not E-mailed

Recommended Posts

I have Outlook Express Running on my desktop on Windows XP Home, and I have VG 5.2.2 with a D4PCI Card.

If I leave a voicemail in a box that has a forwarding e-mail, and set up the email section of voicemail to use Outlook Express the email never gets sent.

I have attached the log file.

Thanks for the help.

You cannot use Outlook Express - the Help file refers to the 'full' version of Outlook.

It's easiest to just specify the SMTP server anyway - have you tried doing that? (just copy the SMTP settings from Outlook Express).

I have tried the SMTP route as well, but I am still not getting the e-mail. The settings are exactly as they are in Outlook.

I have attached the log for the SMTP approach.

Thanks--

There should be a MMDDes.txt trace file in VoiceGuide's \log\ subdirectory - please post that file - that is the log of SMTP server interactions.

When I navigate to c:/Program Files/Voiceguide/Log there is no log MMDDes.txt?

I searched the VoiceGuide file for MMDDes.txt and could not find it either?

Thank you--

Mark

MMDD stands for "Month" and "Day" eg: July 2 would be "0702"

You will need to select a 'save to file' option in VG in order for these log files to be saved. (When running the script click on VoiceGuide's View menu and select 'Event Trace Log' option - then tick the 'save to file' box).

Trace shows that either:

"The SMTP Host did not respond to the request"

or

"The attempt to connect timed out"

or

"Connection is forcefully rejected"

so for some reason the SMTP server does not like to accept email send attempts from VoiceGuide.

You may want to ask the SMTP server administrator - the SMTP server ought to have a record of attempted sends and the administrator may be able to look at these logs and tell you why the SMTP server is not accepting connections from VG.

Just for reference, here is what a trace of a successful send looks like (for demonstration first SMTP server name is faulty and VG then uses the backup SMTP server to send out the email):
