Voice Guide Multiple Forwards

Recommended Posts

Hello;

I'm a new owner of VG and so far enjoying it. In our office, people want thier messages delivered in different ways.

Forward the voice message to:

1. Home phone

2. Cell phone

3. Pager

However, we have some that want the messages forwarded to 2 different places. For instance, send message to my home phone, then send the same message to my cell phone. We are using the forwarding now for a phone and a pager combo and that works fine. How do we forward messages to 2 different telephone numbers.

We are using a voice modem and single phone line.

Question #2

On a couple of occasions the modem did not hang up. Effectively shutting down our night and weekend answering service. We cannot seem to repeat this at will to create a trace log for you. Is there a command or something that will hangup the modem after every use it goes through?

Thanks again in advance for your time and support.

Hi Again;

Just a quick note to append to the above message. We are currently using the Welcome Module. We are not ready yet to try our hand at scripting.

Thanks again for the prompt service.

It is possible to change the voicemail system to allow more then one forwarding telephone number to be specified for each mailbox - but you would need to start editing the voicemail scripts (in \system\vm\ subdirectory) to do this.

Easiest way to achieve what you need right now is to just have the voicemail message copied to other mailbox and have that mailbox forward the calls to the second phone number. You can of course copy the message to multiple mailboxes to forward the same message to multiple phone numbers.

On a couple of occasions the modem did not hang up.

Some modems are unreliable. The only solution is to try another modem - please see: http://www.voiceguide.com/forums/index.php...p?showtopic=135

Thank you for the fast response. The copying to another box for a second phone number delivery worked.

However;

Main mailbox: Forward message to home phone.

Copy to box: Forward message to cell phone.

This worked as you described.

But, after receiving the message from the copy to box, listening to it, then deleting the message; the first box (home phone) keeps dialing trying to deliver a message that now doesn't exist ! Apparently, it is stilled flagged as a "delivery failure" and doesn't check to see if a message, in fact still exists.

Is there a easy way to fix this? We are still not ready to start learning the scripting. Our first goal is to get the system up and running for the agents, then, over time, tweak it.

Thanks once again for your speedy response. We are enjoying working with you and your program.

After you copy the message to another mailbox then this copy is a separate message - and both the original and the copy message will be delivered to their respective destinations.

When one message is delivered this does not have any effect VoiceGuide's attempts to continue to deliver the other message.

If you have a look at the trace of the calls made and you would see that the calls from different mailbox's are trying to deliver a different message (see the filename of the message).

I guess what you really want is for VG to try to deliver message to one number first and then if this number does not answer then deliver the message to another number, instead of delivering the message to two numbers independently?
