Voice Responce Playing Through Speakers

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm trying to get IVG working, everything seems to be fine except for the fact that IVG is playing wave files into the speakers instead of the phone... so the person on the phone hears nothing, while the speakers on the computer play the sound.

I've tried with a couple different modems and they all do the same thing.

I'm running WinXP SP1.

Any ideas?

Sounds like the cards Wave drivers were not correctly installed - can you

try removing all the wave drives on your system (including any sound card drivers) and then re-installing the wave drivers for your telephony device first. Try calling in after doing this, and if the sound can be heard over the phone you can then try to re-install your sound card drivers.

To remove other wave drivers got to Control Panel, double clock on System, select the Device Manager tab and go to Sound/Video/Game Controllers entry - then delete all other wave drivers.

You may have to disable the sound card altogether as well to stop Windows from automatically loading it's drivers - to do this just select "Disable" and then select "Uninstall" from the Device Manager.

Okay you were right, when I disable my soundcard, everything works fine. The only problem is that it only works with the card disabled, as soon as I enable it, it stops working again. Is there a way to force voice guide to use the modem audio even when the soundcard is enabled? In most audio programs you have an option to choose which audio device you want to use. Is there a way to set the audio device in VG?

Thanks for your help!

VG relies on asking Windows what WaveOut device Windows recommends to use with the modem - you could try setting the "Proffered WaveOut Device" in your Windows' Sound Configuration to the modem...
